Every year at the Toronto International Auto Show, the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada announces its winners for the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year and Canadian Car of the Year. This year, the Volkswagen Alltrack won the top honors on the car side.
Winners are determined after an intensive week of road tests at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Bowmanville, Ontario. This is where AJAC automotive journalists evaluate the new models available in the Canadian market and compare them according to a set of criteria.
Everything is evaluated, from interior space to fuel economy, comfort to how the vehicle behaves off-road for eligible models. Vehicles are assessed against their competition under similar conditions to ensure equal competition.
In the end, it was the 2017 Volkswagen Alltrack that was crowned champion of all new 2017 cars.
Available starting at $35,295, the Alltrack is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine developing 170 horsepower. This engine is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that features an off-road mode, and 4Motion all-wheel-drive is standard.
